I have been based in Cape Town for the past nine years and the one question I often get is “so where do you go for a weekend away or holiday?”, seeing that staying in Cape Town is like a permanent holiday. Or so some people tend to think…
Being surrounded with so many incredible places, it can often be quite a difficult decision. One place that I have eyed for a while now, is Aurora Views in Gordon’s Bay.
Gordon’s Bay is a scenic coastal harbor town which lies in a corner of False Bay and below the majestic Hottentots Holland Mountain. With only a 45min short drive from the Mother City, Gordon’s Bay is a perfect spot for couples’ romantic escapes and family or friends’ getaways.
There are no shortage of great restaurants, eateries, spas, wine estates all within a short drive away. But with a vibrant harbor and beautiful beach you don’t really even need to take a drive out somewhere.
Mountainside is a very popular section of Gordon’s Bay – situated against the Hottentot’s Holland mountain range – and is now a home for Aurora Views Luxury Villa. It is positioned along one of the highest roads in the area, boasting panoramic views of False Bay and the Helderberg basin.
Owners Sally and David Cole who are based in the UK says that after regularly visiting South Africa for their holidays, they fell in love with the country. “We have spent a number of holidays staying in Gordon’s Bay, and have seen just how much the wine and leisure scene in the surrounding area has evolved. It is now home to some of South Africa’s top restaurants and a number of exceptional wine estates. And the views – it is like Christmas every day.” – says David.
Aurora Views boasts contemporary and classic decor elements throughout the three spacious bedrooms and living spaces, created with exquisite attention to detail while at the same time offering privacy and tranquility. Quality furniture was installed throughout and an elegant dining area adjacent to the open-plan kitchen boasts a modern but cosy ambience.
The fully-equipped and spacious kitchen with large windows displays views of the garden and was created in anticipation of the most ambitious culinary endeavours. A separate scullery section is complete with all the
necessary appliances for convenience, such as a microwave oven, washing machine and dishwasher, all for guests’ convenience.
This all sounds simply amazing right?! But wait, there’s more!!
Stunning ocean views set the tone for dinner parties or family lunches on the spacious balcony, while a more formal dining room is ideal for cooler evenings or more intimate occasions. The main property is large and modern, and can accommodate six guests in its three double bedrooms. The property also benefits from a self-contained double garden cottage which can be rented with the whole property. In total, Aurora Views can comfortably
accommodate 8 guests on a self-catering basis.
The property is perfect for family or friends travelling together who are looking for an accommodation option which feels like a true ‘Home away from Home’. “We created Aurora Views because we wanted other people to be able to enjoy a Home-environment getaway in the Helderberg. The area is safe, growing in popularity, and offers a real alternative to the city vibe.” – says Sally Cole.
Despite Gordon’s Bay being quiet and relatively small community there is plenty to do and explore in the area. From wine tours, hikes, beaches, art tours, spas, shopping, dining to a golf game at the world-famous Erinvale Golf Course, designed by legendary course designer and golfer Gary Player.
There are so many delightful and charming places where one can escape life’s hustle and bustle. New Aurora Views Luxury Villa in Gordon’s Bay is one of those gems that is hidden away in the amazing Helderberg and waiting to be discovered by YOU.
